Lauren Nicholson

Mission Director

Lauren has always described philanthropy as an integral part of her life, volunteering with her mother from a young age at soup kitchens, churches, and cleaning up her community. Her passion for philanthropy ignited when her younger cousin, Riley, was diagnosed with Wilms’ Tumor at only 4 years old. After having her kidney removed, she went through chemotherapy, though six months later a spot on her lung was found. This also had to be surgically removed, requiring her to go through radiation treatment and chemotherapy yet again. Luckily, these numerous treatments helped her overcome cancer, and she's been in remission for almost 4.5 years now. In 2021, Lauren launched her campaign with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in honor of her cousin, where she raised over $65k for cancer research, patient support, and advocacy. Having raised over $50k on her own, Lauren received the coveted “Hero Award” and was able to dedicate her efforts to LLS’s “Children’s Initiative” in her cousin’s name. Joining Zeta Tau Alpha in 2021 further inspired Lauren to fight to put an end to cancer; she served as fundraising letter chair during their 2021 Big Man on Campus fundraiser which raised $110k for Breast Cancer Education and Awareness. She also volunteers at Clemson as a “Best Buddy” to an intellectually disabled student in the ClemsonLIFE program, providing emotional support as well as a genuine friendship.

Lauren is currently pursuing two Bachelor of Science degrees in Marketing with a minor in Brand Communications and Management with an emphasis in International Management. Her participation in the Dixon Global Policy Scholars program further opened her eyes to the inequalities faced in communities across America and the positive impact policy and social work can create, inspiring her to utilize her varied educational background to inspire change at the local, national, and international levels. Lauren’s background holding numerous leadership positions in philanthropic initiatives make her a great addition to the project management team.
